How many of you remember your parents saying try just one bite of foods, and you might like it? Have the kids try FunBites!

History of inventors

A Carnegie Mellon University Tepper School of Business in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in the United States Bobbi Rhoades is now married to Ed Rhoades who has a Mechanical Engineering degree also from Carnegie Mellon University. The couple now live in Connecticut. They have two daughters and have invented something.

The Why, what and how of the invention

The couple invented something when Bobbi got the idea because she would cut foods into shapes and let the daughters play with the shapes then they would eat them.
She found it time consuming and thought others wouldn't want to do it because of that.

The start of a business

They decided to make a business called FunBItes. After the first three years they made $500,000!
This product is made of two pieces of plastic . First there is the mold in different shapes. Some of the shapes are squares, crescents, hearts, and triangles. These shapes come in different sizes. There is also a plastic knife that is so sharp will cut through any foods.

How Bobbi got on shark tank

Bobbi's father suggested they go on a reality show on the ABC network, Shark Tank. At first Bobbi and her husband didn't know the show was on Television.
Shark Tank is not an to have a product you invented featured. This year there were 42,000 people trying to get on the show. Bobbi says that they chose ninety of the ones they liked best, and there is only a fifty percent chance those people will be filmed. Then out those fifty percent only fifty percent of those will be filmed.

How Bobbi did on the show

Bobbi got on television and the "Queen of QVC" wanted a twenty-five percent equity offering Bobbi $75,000.
Bobbi said, "The big food companies have figured out how to entice the kids to eat their sugary, colorful snacks and fun shaped not so healthy nugget. (It's about) making healthy food more fun and appealing. Playing and interacting with food makes eating more fun. Cornell University found that if you allowed kids to play with their foods, they're open to trying new things and eating healthier."
