We go day in and day out expecting that people know where they are going, but do we ask ourselves if they even know where they are going.

The Story

Bob mentions in his video in the Six Minute program about to follow someone, he talks about a story from a book his mentor gave him of a factoryworker, that of course leaves his home in the morning to go to his work at the big factory, and on the way he stops just outside a jeweler shop in front of display and pulls out his watch, he sets his watch, because he has employees that need to go to lunch at noon, and he needs to blow the whistle at that time. He does that every morning, every day, and every week, month after month and year after year. Then one day the jeweler starts to wonder about the factoryworker, why he does that every day, week after week and month after month and year after year.

One day he is outside and sweeps the sidewalk and greets the factoryworker when he passes and about to set his watch, then the jeweler asks him: pardon me, where do you work, he answers: down at the big factory, I blow the whistle at noon, telling the people it’s time to go to lunch, that’s why I need to set my watch properly. The Jeweler expresses, isn’t that funny, you see I set my clocks by your whistle every day.

The Story's Principle

You see many people are following a follower, and not knowing where they are going. If we ask ourselves, do the one we are following know where they are going, are they a leader, or are they just following another one.

Ask yourself, where are you going, because if you don’t know where you are going, there is a good chance that your followers won’t even know, so it goes both ways.
