SWOT Analysis identifies the areas of concerns a n organization need to focus their attention to.

Introduction

Most companies nowadays resort to SWOT Analysis in order to identify the needs and areas where they can come in to help, assist, guide and lead their subordinates. It is mostly used in order to particularly identify the actual circumstances prevailing in a particular group and measure their level of awareness and what programs of actions are needed in order to address the actual circumstances prevailing in a particular department.

SWOT analysis begin upon conducting and identifying the internal strengths and weaknesses of an individual and relating this strengths and weaknesses to the position held by the individual as well as to the circumstances and actual problems prevailing in the position being handled by the said individual.

Strengths

This describes the positive attitude, personality of the individual, both the tangible and intangible things which are internal into the individual relative to the position he occupies.
These are within the exclusive control of the individual or organization.

Weaknesses

These pertain to the factors that are within your control which negates or hinders an individual in further performing the duties and responsibilities tasked upon him.

Opportunities

These are external attractive factors that are present to the individual or organization. These are already present and are waiting to be exploited and used.

Threats

These are also external factors which may hinder the business to prosper. By identifying the possible threats, the organization now is more prepared and ready to face any changes in the market.

Remember

Remember that Strengths and Weaknesses and are both internal and are within the control. Opportunities and Threats are both external.

Strengths and Opportunities are both positive whereas Weaknesses and Threats are negative which when identified can be converted to positive as long as a strategical plan was put into action.

The SWOT analysis is a valuable step in your situational analysis. Assessing your firm’s strengths, weaknesses, market opportunities, and threats through a SWOT analysis is a very simple process that can offer powerful insight into the potential and critical issues affecting a venture.
