Some good reasons for leaving your current job, despite bad economic circumstances.

Weighing the Options

Leaving a current job is generally not an easy decision, even if you think it is necessary. Many factors come into play, such as insecurity about the future, financial and personal obligations, and the economy in general. A lot of people might advise that if it's not broke, don't fix it. Or even that a paycheck, even if it's barely adequate, is better than none.

Why is it that those who say money isn't everything usually have plenty of it? While money isn't the most important thing in the world, if your income is stagnant but prices keep rising to the point where you struggle to pay your existing bills, you may want to think over your options.

Stagnant Environment

The same goes if all promotions have been put on hold at your company, or if you are already in a position as high as you can go. In other words, if you are in a dead end job you may want to weigh our options, unless you are happy and quite satisfied with how things are.

Perhaps you have also outgrown your job in other ways. At one time you may have been the perfect fit, but the company and people around you could have changed. While change is a normal part of life and of course adapting to it is sensible, sometimes we don't agree with the direction a company takes and feel out of place. In that case, it's a good idea to start looking around as well.

Negative Environment

If a work environment is unfriendly or even hostile, this may spell trouble as well. While we can't control the personalities of people we work with and certain flexibility is needed to work with different people, harassment or even constant rudeness should not have to be tolerated. While leaving for these reasons may be a last resort, not every employer is accommodating when it comes to dealing with these issues.

Health Issues

As we age, we also might be prone to more health issues, as well as handle amounts of stress differently. Perhaps a job has grown too physically demanding or the stress level has become too high. In that case leaving a job might be justified as well.
