How to Make Money From Art

Books of good quality, original tattoo designs can be sold for hundreds of pounds to local or chain tattoo parlours. Make sure that your book has a wide variety of styles with both innovative styles and contemporary but still unique designs.

Making Money With Art

Alternatively you could design single tattoos by request of customers. Draw up sample pieces and show to friends and family, they can then show off their body art to their friends and encourage them to have you design one for them.

Draw cartoons for greetings cards;

Every picture printed on a greetings card has been designed by somebody so why not let that somebody be you. Much like writing jokes or poems you simply need to find a gap in the market and a company willing to buy your work. Check around on the internet and you could make a sizable profit.

Sell artwork prints;

This can be done via sites such as deviantart.com. The process is fairly simple; you design a piece of artwork, scan it into a computer, upload it onto your account and select the option which allows people to buy the prints. When doing this make sure that the piece is watermarked so that people don’t simply copy the picture onto their computers. Whilst not a major source of income, it can bring you a decent enough amount of spare cash.

Set up a Zazzle store;

Zazzle.com is a site that allows you to open your own online store and design merchandise to sell through them. Zazzle supplies the product and you supply the design. You can sell your design on mugs, t-shirts, ornaments or even just as posters or prints.

Draw to request;
Make some good quality sketches of scenery, animals and other popular art subjects and make them into a portfolio. Show this to family members or friends and offer to make similar sketches of subjects of their choice. These can then be shown to their friends or contacts and you can do sketches for them as well.

As long as your prices are reasonable and your work of good quality you should be able to make a decent income by branching out when customers recommend you to friends (a business card and contact details may be a good idea when you reach a certain level of interest).
