Hiring: Factors For Your New Staff Poor Performance

Hiring an additional manpower to your workforce can be tasking with the whole process of scouting, interviewing several applicants and trimming down to one until finally you got your man to do the job. The next step is to give the training that the new staff needs.

You have given all your efforts but it seems the staff is not fairly performing well. What could be the reason for the poor performance? Proper evaluation of the training and the staff are needed to see what went wrong. Here are the possible factors :

The quality of training may not be enough. Consider the amount of time and the quality of training given. Are the job functions achievable to learn for a short period of time? If your company is Sales oriented, product knowledge is very important. Your new staff should learn all the things about your company's products and services. Evaluate how long should be the training for the position.

The quality of the training and the capability of the trainor are very vital for the success of the training. A new staff may just be mislead or confused if the proper training and motivation are not met.

Co-workers are not supportive of the new staff or bullied by office mates. New hires are often intimidated of the new environment including the new co-workers around. Encourage and promote better working relationships among your team.

Unfit qualifications for the position. There can be hiring mismatched in the process. A new staff may not consider not good enough for the position, but rather because of unfit qualifications for the position. Choosing the best applicant to fill in the position can be crucial that is why skills, previous working experience, personality traits (shy type, introvert, outgoing etc.) should be evaluated well. These should match the requirements of the position.

Lack of skills and potential of the staff. What if you have given all the proper training and motivation? The staff can be evaluated as lack of potential to acquire the position. Poor working attitude, lack of initiative, inability to learn fast and follow directions correctly are the common factors for the poor performance. By this level, you should consider getting a new one.
