As you start planning for starting a business, one of the things you will want to be clear on is how it will fit into your lifestyle. Remember your business brand will be a reflection of who you are inside. So try to pick something that you will enjoy doing, that way you will be able to stand the test of time when things get tough. In the following article I will share some of my tips on how to love what your doing as a first time business owner.

Starting a Business That You Will Love

One of my dreams has always been to start my own business, I used to write down everything that I needed to get started and I remember going to talk to people who were running the type of business I wanted to start. A couple of things that I learned was that it had to be something that I would stick with regardless if I made money from it or not.

Now you may be surprised to read that last sentence because you want to definitely make money since that is your primary motivation for starting the business in the first place. Let me explain why I think it is important to focus on what you enjoy doing first before you start counting all the money you are going to make.

I know of a lady who decided to start a balloon decorating service from her home and she did her research and found out all the supplies she would need to get started. After having a few home parties she decided she would lease out a building in the surrounding area. So she opened up her balloon shop, hired a small staff and started advertising in the yellow pages.

The motivation behind all of her decisions was due to all the money she thought she was going to be making from her new business venture. Sadly it took longer than she expected and because of not having enough customers to buy her balloons she went into debt trying to pay for the cost of leasing a building and paying salary to employees.

What you can learn from this is that unless you have some type of connection with the real reason behind starting a new business it could end up being a costly mistake. Take the time to find out what you really love to do and try to build a business around that passion.

How to Pick The Perfect Business For You

I know that many people will wonder why it is so important to pick a business that they will enjoy doing each day and may even be passionate about. For the same simple reason why you should live a life of purpose instead of circumstance. Choose the kind of life you want to live, be the person that you want to become and take control of your destiny.

As long as you understand that you want to do things because you know in your heart that it will add value and be part of the greater good in people's lives then you will be able to weather the storm of starting a new business. The statistics of most new enterprises suggest that many people fail with in the first 2 years of setting up a business.

I believe those statistics could be much lower if people picked things that they could really be proud of doing, businesses that inspire them to be creative. Often times as an employee we can not choose who our bosses will be or who our co-workers will be or what type of office we are going to work in but as a entrepreneur we have the ability choose how we want to run our business and who we want to be around, so why not do something that is going to make you happy.

Take What You Are Good at Doing and Make it Your Mission in LIfe

Self-employed people have one thing in common, they understand the power of having a mission statement. The WHY behind what they do each day is tied to who they are as a person. Do you know what your good at? Have you taken time to figure out what skill, knowledge or talent you can bring to the world?

If not then I recommend you take out a piece of paper and write it down. Once you become clear on who you are and what you stand for then the greater success you will have with starting a new business from scratch. You will be equipped to take charge of your life and make money from your abilities to offer value to others.

In the beginning of this article I talked about a lady who started a balloon decorating service from home and then later expanded to an office building but did not succeed due to not having enough customers to buy her product. Well the good news is that now she is doing something that she really enjoys which is planning weddings for new brides.

I can see the joy in her face when she talks about all the wonderful experiences she has working with catering companies, flower shops, decorators, etc. to make a special day for someone it just makes me smile. This is where I get my firm belief in why it is important to love what you do no matter what type of business you want to start.
