Do You Like Salesman Following You In The Departmental Stores?

I like privacy while on shopping. Salesmen can be helpful to us at times when we actually need them to know some details abut any product! But then do you like them following you constantly while on shopping?

Privacy While Shopping!

As discussed in one of my earlier articles, I am fond of shopping and we choose some good Mall or Departmental store for that! I like to browse each section of the mall at my own pace and want to examine the things which I like before adding the same to my shopping cart!

I enjoy this activity and I don't like to compromise with time here!

I think for such shopping we require privacy as we need to compare the prices and other things with other competitive products of similar nature displayed there!

Many a times there can be things of personal use which we may not be checked in front of others! So I prefer loneliness for my shopping!

Over Enthusiastic Salesmen!

But many a times I find some sales man following us continuously or constantly all around the shopping Mall. Some even unnecessarily intervene and try to explain about a particular product though every thing is there about the product on the tag!

I really don't like this type of interference! I politely tell them that I don't require any guidance please leave me alone and further I tell them that I will call them if needed

Why Do They Follow Us?

In spite of this these people they don't stop following us! Now my point is, are these people meant for our help or they are there to annoy us and snatch away the enjoyment of shopping from us?

When I have initiated a similar discussion in other site I got many responses saying that these people are employed by the management to keep a check on the shop lifters!

That means are we under the personal surveillance?

Can Some Body Explain Me?

What I fail to understand here is, when they have CCTV cameras fixed at various nooks and corners of their mall and when they have separate team of security people, then why they want to harass their customers like this?

Have you ever experienced such thing during your shopping?

Would you appreciate these people constantly following you while shopping? Please respond! Thanks!

PS: Pictures Are Taken From Google Search.I sincerely convey my Thanks.

Some people do it purposely to know about us. A few in enthusiastic to get good name from their management. Earlier when there is no camera surveillance they follow the customers and now I don't feel it would be for the same reason.

I too hate when I am constantly followed by a department store employee and them trying to be so helpful, I too am a loner when it comes to shopping. Just leave me and my list alone. When I was in my wheelchair it was even worse, even though I know they were only being well meaning. Nice read. Thank you for sharing.:)

This is a great article and I agree with you 100%!! I hate it when a salesperson follows me around as if I am about to walk off with something. I too am a loner when it comes to shopping and don't want some salesperson pushing me into buying something I don't need. Most of the time they are just after that commission and really know very little about the products.

In fact in a busy departmental store salesmen or salesgirls have no time to follow nor they can follow each and every purchaser.Even taking it hypothetically, no one will like it.But when you have any difficulty in locating any particular goods you are searching for they are available to help you.

Dear ramalingam today in India The departmental stores have come up like Mushrooms! You get dimea dozen today in big cities and most of them are quite empty, except for the first week of the month when I avoid my shopping! Thanks a lot for responding!

I hate that, too. I love shopping. I just hope they stay at a distance where you can easily find them when you need something but not follow you like a sniffing dog.

I also dislike salesmen intervening too much. I can understand that they are also under pressure from their own management for getting people to buy some things more. Yet, I find some big departmental stores like Spencer's are better off, they do not follow you too much, and still are available for help.
