This is how Jesus addressed the issue of abundance of goods, with his miracle of feeding
5,000 people with just five loaves and two fish.

Abundance and the miracle of feeding 5,000 people

Abundance of resources is a concept that has been discussed by numerous thinkers and philosophers over the ages. Astonishingly enough, Jesus Christ has applied this concept in practice.
One of the most well-known miracles of Jesus is feeding 5,000 people with just five loaves of bread and two fish. Nobody believed that this could be actually done.
After Jesus prayed to his father, he delivered the very limited source of food that he had available. His followers satisfied their hunger and managed to survive.

Abundance and scarcity in the modern world

This paradigm of abundance from very limited resources can be helpful in fighting against poverty issues in the modern world.
While Jesus did not clearly state it as such, his approach was probably one of the first attempts by a leader to address the economic issue of scarcity of resources.
Beyond the religious aspect of the miracle, the fundamental dilemma of scarcity vs abundance was clearly answered by Jesus Christ in favor of abundance. Rather than taking the limited amount of food available for granted, Jesus decided to use his power to feed his people.
His decision and act serves as a great example in promoting the miraculous power of creativity to solve survival issues in our world. Jesus showed us the way, to believe that resources are not limited but rather abundant.

Jesus and allocation of resources

Major economic theorists have adopted the concept of scarcity when it comes to allocation of resources and production of goods.
However, Jesus, with his miracle of feeding 5,000 people with just five breads and two fish, shed new light on this issue.
Natural resources are only limited by the way that we use them. Believing in scarcity of resources leads us to inactivity, which further aggravates the problem of scarcity, making it some sort of self-fulfilling prophecy.
On the other hand, the abundance of resources really lies in our hands. It is not only based on wise administration of these resources, but also on realizing and releasing the amazing creative that we have been gifted with.

Two contrasting ways to solve the problem of scarcity, but we should be more attuned to the second based on harsh reality of our times.

Thanks for this educative share - siva

Hi, and thank you for your valuable content.
I have adopted the view, which I believe is present in many religions, that our planet, the wonderful Earth, can supply more than enough to feed the masses of people (literally the 5,000) of the modern world.

Yes I agree - Gandhi said there is enough to meet our needs but not the greed!

I feel we are in for a paradigm shift soon in terms of energy that will change our landscape. Solar energy will become cheaper than conventional and so almost all our problems can be solved but with the right attitude, of course! siva
