The downside to working with a spouse.Working with your spouse can reek havoc on your romantic relationship, do you lack of personal separation.
The down side to working with your spouse or partner.
I do not think spouses should not work together, because you will probably get tired of seeing that person all day everyday. After a short period time you will become so sick and annoyed with each other; you will not want to be in any kind relationship with each other. What will you discuss with your partner who been with you all day? Your personal life becomes filled awkward silences or all you will ever do talk about problems at work, you will both feel like you always at work. How do you tell your partner he is bad at his job, without ruining the relationship?
You need to your emotion out of your professional business; emotional thinking leads to sloppy decision making. Sloppy decision-making can lead huge lose of money. Bosses and subordinates should never date each other, because even a consensual can turn into a case for sexual harassment. You would be amazed how much the past get’s edited when someone is hurt. Business is logical and love is emotional, which is why they should never mix. You could lose everything if you mix the two.
If you insist on going into business with your spouse, write up a contract that specify is what happens to business if the two of you go your separate way. You should make this contract in the beginning while you are still on good terms. I know it very unpleasant to talk about, but just might save you an unnecessary headache down the road.
