Seven Twitter mistakes you should avoid

Twitter is world's number one micro blogging social networking site and Twitter is used by a common man to a celebrity. Twitter has many advantages for you. It is used for sales, marketing, branding, delivering news and sending updates. In 140 characters you have to send information on twitter and you can share any kind of your information on twitter, but only in 140 characters. People use twitter for different-different reasons and to achieve your goal of using Twitter you should avoid some mistakes. Twitter is a very powerful tool and platform if you use it properly. Here are some common mistakes made by Twitter users and should be avoided-

1. If you are on Twitter, then you should have a good written bio on Twitter. Many Twitter users either keep bio field empty or they do not write a good and real bio. Bio on Twitter is your online identity on Twitter hence you should write a good bio. Here, good bio means your identity, what you are doing and what are your main achievements? You should use your website link in the bio and if you do not own personal website, then you can use other URL of your social identity like you can use URL of your Facebook page or URL of your Linkedin profile.

2. Not attaching photo on Twitter profile or attaching someone else's photo or any other image. If it is your personal account, then you should use your personal photo and if it is your organizational account, then you can use any good photo of your organization. Size of photo also matters; hence your photo should fit in the size given by Twitter.

3. Not following back is another mistake that is made by Twitter users. If someone is following your tweets, then you should give him favour by following him.

4. Not updating regularly. If you are on Twitter, then you should send daily some updates to your followers.

5. Not re-tweeting. Twitter has a great option of re-tweet and mention and by using this feature you can form a community. This feature is a great tool to communicate and increase your influence on Twitter.

6. Not utilizing Twitter background. Background of your Twitter profile provides a great tool of your personal and organizational branding. You should use it properly. Instead of using backgrounds available on Twitter, you can make some beautiful background with the help of other sites. There are some sites like twitbacks.com provides this service free of cost.

7. Twitter is a public platform, despite this many users make Twitter and their Tweets private. If you are on Twitter, then you should not make your tweets private. Twitter is a public platform and should be used publicly. There is not any sense to make your Twitter profile private.
