Legal Project management tries to make the practices of project management compatible with the law.
Legal Project Management
Legal Project Management is meant to change the practices and techniques of project management for becoming compatible with the world of attorneys, or the so called legal world. The concepts of project management are applied for controlling legal matters, or cases. The truth is that many of the main things that belong to a project management have no correspondence in the legal world and they must be adapted. The best examples of items can be requirements, post delivery stages, or gates.
The goal of a legal management firm is the creation of a litigation design that is predictable and repeatable and which can provide the proper tools for you to be able to collaborate well with us. The litigation model contains the following:
• case plan selection
• project plan
• budget
• real-time analytics
• on-going modeling
For instance, a project plan can have actions, accountable people and milestones. An example of milestone can be the Pretrial Report, which can include the date of the trial, information about the judge, witness evaluation, defense arguments, etc. Legal Project Management can help you spend less, as it can provide:
• processing and administrative efficiency
• control of costs and continuous improvement of processes
• analythics, data mining and reporting
• actionable metrics
• multiple dollars of savings for each dollar spent in planning
The collaboration can be beneficial for law firms, corporate legal departments from medium to large, or business units. Legal project management is already well known in law firms, in cases that have a high requirement for control of risk, costs and schedule. The majority of lawyers can be unfamiliar with the concept and they do not give it much value. When legal work is involved, most companies still use traditional case management. The only thing that has changed during many generations is the introduction of computerized cases and billable hours.
