Curricullum Vitae

Definition:
Curriculum vitae which came into use in daily discourse in the early 20th century literally means course of life. In technical terms it is a brief account of a person's education, qualifications, and previous occupations, typically sent with a job application.
Its necessity and importance
In the modern world of business and hard competition the managers has not enough time to go through all the degrees and certificates of the candidates. They cast a cursory glance at the brief account that is called CV and select the few persons they think fit for the job.
It has become an essential part of professional life. It is a brief account of the educational and professional qualifications. It consists of all the personal and professional information. The companies often demands only CV now and evaluate the abilities of candidates. It saves time of the employer. Often written on one page CV portrays a comprehensive picture of the person. The reader becomes aware of the qualifications of the person he is going to hire. It is also called resume. The American uses the word Resume for CV.
Lay out
It is a special document which can make or mar the career. That is why it is very necessary to be extra careful and conscious while composing a CV. It should have an attractive look and symmetry. A well written CV creates a good impression on the reader. It should be well written and include all the necessary detail in a logical manner.
Different Sections
Personal information
It can be divided into different sections. The first section often describes the personal details as name address, date of birth, nationality, place of birth and identity card number.
Educational Information
The second section expresses the education. The section is divided into two parts. First describes the academic qualifications and the second professional qualifications in details.
Trainings and Research
The third section includes description of computer trainings. The fourth section includes the professional training and research work of the related fields. You can write the account of foreign visits and trainings also in this section. The last section often describes the references. In this way it becomes a brief and comprehensive account of the life.
