A poem about first love. The joy of of that love and the pain and longing when it's over.
If I Had a Penny
If I had a penny, for every tear
That I've shed for you, over the years
Then I would be, a millionaire
But if I was, would I really care
Oh! no not me, I'd give it all away
If I could turn back the years, to that very first day
The glorious day, when I met you
The loveliest girl, that I ever knew
To have you smile, that most secret smile
To see once more, love shine in your eyes
To hold your warm body, close next to mine
To feel our hearts beat together, in a moment in time
I'll never forget. your beautiful hair
Cascading over your shoulders, like flames in a fire
Your voice so soft, when you whispered to me
When we were together, that you loved only me
The warmth of your kisses, so freely given
Could this be for real, or was I in Heaven
Oh! how I loved, your freckly nose
When I kissed you your sighes, that went down to your toes
What happened to us, why did we part?
What was the calamity, that broke both our hearts?
If only I knew, it would ease the pain
For I've loved you forever, though we'll ne'er meet again.

It's a miniture rose that Linda's grandaughter bought her about 3years ago. It comes up smiling every year no matter how bad the winter. Glad you like it.Xx
