Just a short summary of what i have found out so far about affilliate marketing, from my very short time as an affillate marketer!
Affiliate Marketing Short
Affiliate programs are a process in which you, as the affiliate sales person, are advertising and selling other people's products, while collecting a substantial cut of the profits. (With one-time only sales, your share can run from 50 to 100 percent, depending on the program.) Ongoing or long-term services such as Web hosting, autoresponders, and membership programs pay less (10% to 20%), but you continue to collect month after month, as long as the subscriber uses the service.
Landing Pages
What is a landing page? In very simple terms, it is the first page on your website or blog that someone goes to - or "lands" -- after clicking on a link in an article that you have written, your AdWords or Yahoo ad or a link from a forum, blog post or your link from a social networking site.
On your article or AdWords landing page you will need to create several related product reviews with a good headline or a testimonial about the product. Another type of landing page gives step-by-step instructions on how to use the product or service that you are selling. For forum and blog posts and social networking sites, a completely different type of landing page is required.
Why do you need a landing page? One reason for using landing pages is that AdWords does not allow direct links to affiliates, and neither does ezinearticles.com. However, the most important reason is that your landing page gives you yet another opportunity to pre-sell your affiliate product to your visitors. In addition, the goal of your landing page is very simple -- you want the visitor to click on one of your affiliate links; and hopefully, to buy the product or service.
With a landing page, you are able to explain details and benefits, remind browsers of the guarantee, and help to remove their resistance to buying your affiliate product or service. Your conversion rate (number of people who actually buy from you) will be much better when you have a well-written landing page.

There are two main styles of landing pages that you will be using for your affiliate marketing efforts. One is the review -- and the other is the testimonial
